About

Believing Study is a Bible study blog by Brandon Staggs.

It is called “Believing Study” because study of the Bible should be done without a questioning spirit. The word of God is to be believed, and earnest study of the Book must be done without criticism or “correction” of the Biblical text. The Believer must put himself into subjection to the Bible, not the other way around, as is commonplace in modern Christianity.

Doctrinal Statement

Any written doctrinal statement is by nature incomplete, but the following should suffice to give the reader a good idea where the author is coming from.

The Bible is the verbally inspired word of God without error and is to be the final authority in any Believer’s life. The Bible is perfectly inspired by God, is preserved by God, and the King James Bible is God’s word without error in the English language.

2 Peter 1:21  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2 Timothy 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Psalms 12:6-7  The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The Bible is to be studied with right division (dispensationally). Paul is the apostle of our time. While all Scripture is for us, not all Scripture is to us.

2 Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Romans 11:13  For I {Paul} speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

2 Timothy 2:7  Consider what I {Paul} say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

As to the unity of Believers, there is one Body, one Spirit, one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God.

Ephesians 4:4-6  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Salvation is through faith alone and is given to anyone who believes in Jesus Christ and his completed work. Salvation for the present day Believer is eternally secure because it is a seal of the Holy Spirit and can never be broken.

Acts 16:31  And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4  Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Ephesians 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Romans 8:38-39  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Godhead is a triune being: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh.

Colossians 2:9  For in him {Jesus Christ} dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

1 Timothy 3:16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

1 John 5:7  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Jesus Christ will return to rule a physical, material earthly Kingdom, and this Kingdom is not in existence today.

2 Corinthians 4:4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Revelation 20:4  And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
