A Review of “Love Wins” by Rob Bell

I’ve posted a review of Rob Bell’s book, Love Wins over at av1611.com.

While I do address Bell’s distorted, unbiblical view of heaven and hell, the real issue at heart is final authority: Bell has none other than his own heart (Jer 17:9). Bell is only taking one step further than the “fundamentalist” Christians who are currently criticizing him. If we don’t believe we can hold, read, and understand the very words of God given by inspiration of God (2Ti 3:16), disregarding what God says about eternal life and eternal death comes as no surprise.

Given the fact that scholars are busy publishing one translation of the Bible after another, based on the corruptions of Bell’s hero Origen, they really have no leg to stand on when they try to correct his error.

  1. Yes Brandon I agree. I have not read this Rob Bell’s book but have read many reviews and can get an idea about what it is about. It is nothing new just another “gospel” given by a “minister of righteousness” as an “angel of light”. What concerns me is how many folks blindly believe this type of demonic theology based on nothing more than shifting sand. I admit it appeals to “itching ears” those who desperately want to believe that God is not really HOLY and that He could never be so just as to send souls to an everlasting place of damnation and torment. They love to “maketh a lie and to believeth a lie” as Jesus said “they have their reward”.

  2. Excellent articel Brandon. Far too many people give a person that wierd look when you tell them:that all people are not saved, there is no such thing as universal salvation.
When I tell them believe in Jesus Christ our Savior, who was born, died and raised from the dead. He died for our sins but you have to believe in J. Christ and repent
. They do not want to hear God’s Word. SAdly some people prefer the soft transaltions of God’s Word, some people refute those of us who stand up for God’s Word that IS Inspired and that not all translation’s are God’ Word!
Thank you for sharing this. I facebooked the article.

  3. I can promise you, Brandon, after reading your review of Ron Bell’s book “Love Wins”, I’ll never waste my time reading it. What it sounds like is the sardonic drippings of an over-rated Bible hater.

  4. I too have never read Rob Bell’s book, but I am so weary of running across his type in the pulpit. So called Fundamentalists who would never use a Bible other than the King James, but will tell you they do not believe it is the preserved Word of God for English speaking people. They use it, but with no conviction that what the Word clearly claims about Itself is true. It is sad and results in uninspiring messages and leaves them, and the church, open to being “tossed to and fro, and carried about with ever wind of doctrine”.

  5. Blessed day to all.
I too have not read Rob Bell’s book though I have read some excerpts and some years ago would have identified myself with similar comments as other bloggers and judge him with words like “sardonic drippings of an over rated bible hater.
Those are words that came not from love or compassion nor from one that practices what Bible lovers do.

We accept another persons review and come to such an absolute conclusion. Without casting any aspersions on Brandon’s review, I have learnt from experience that unless I read an authors book then I am not in position to make sweeping judgments. I have fallen into the trap…yea sin many a time. Sometimes I found out that an author is badly misrepresented or misinterpreted or because of theological biases been called or even Bible hater.

I doubt it very much the man is a Bible hater. Maybe he is just wrong about what he thinks the Bible teaches, just like all of us. None of us are right about everything in the Bible but that does not make us Bible haters.

Why not read check and see like those at Berea if those things be so.
May we allow the Holy Spirit to teach us outside of our closed theological boxes etc before we refer to other Brethren as Bible haters just because their view differ with ours or even if their view is actually error.
    God bless you all

    1. While others commenting may not have read the book, I have. Bell isn’t just a Bible hater, he is a denier of Christ’s own words on the topics at hand.

  6. Rob Bell believes in Postmodernism which questions absolute truth. It redefines reality. Post modernism will be a convenient tool for those who want to escape reality, but reality will stare at them in the face whether they like it or not..

  7. Bell is going to answer for what he is doing. I pray he comes to Christ.

2 Peter 2 deals with so called teachers like him.
